IN MEMORY OF RALPH CHOMOR

Ralph A. Chomor
1949-2009

Ralph A. Chomor of 470 Thornton St., Sharon, PA. passed away at 6:29 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He was 59.

Mr. Chomor was born in Sharon, PA on October 21, 1949, a son of Albert J. and Norma J. McCurdy Chomor.

Ralph was the owner and operator of Blackies Billiards and Side Pocket Café. He provided full service billiard supplies and custom made cues. He was formerly employed at GATX and a supervisor at Sawhill Tubular Division.

He was a member of the North Sharon Fire Hall and the FH Buhl Club. Ralph was very active in his billiard Leagues; he was a certified instructor for Valley National Eight Ball Association and Billiard Congress of America, where he played in both leagues. He also operated the Penn-Ohio BCA League. Mr. Chomor enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating, but most of all he loved his family and friends.

IN MEMORY OF JERRY SALOIS

Cue Sports International and its referee community were extremely saddened by the recent passing of one of their most beloved officials, BCA Pool League National Head Referee Jerry Salois.  On behalf of our player membership and league operators, all of us here at CSI wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to Jerry’s family at this most difficult time.

Jerry’s contributions to the growth and success of our referee program are immeasurable.  His greatest gift was how he treated others and his unselfish desire to help everyone enjoy their involvement with the game as a player or an official.  To honor and preserve Jerry’s memory, we will re-name our annual Referee of the Year award as “The Jerry Salois Memorial Referee of the Year Award”.

Thank you Jerry.  You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Check Fraud Alert

06/10/09 -- The BCA Pool League was contacted by a few honest citizens today because they received a BCA Pool League check in the mail unexpectedly.  A cover letter asked the recipient to deposit the check ($3,470) and wire most of the funds to a "coordinator" as soon as the check clears, allegedly to evaluate the Western Union service used to wire the funds.

If you receive a similar BCA Pool League check under suspicious circumstances, please call us immediately at (702) 719-7665 or fax a copy of the check and the letter to (702) 719-7667.  Then mail the original to us at:  BCA Pool League, 2041 Pabco Road, Henderson, NV 89011.

06/25/09 -- We were contacted today by someone who received a BCA Pool League check in a second fraud mailing from the same source.  The amount was $3,520, the contact info was different, but the fraud scheme was the same.

Again, if you receive a mailing like this, please call us at (702) 719-7665 or fax a copy of the check and the letter to (702) 719-7667.  Then mail the original to us at:  BCA Pool League, 2041 Pabco Road, Henderson, NV 89011.  Thank you.
